It all started with a message saying “…When is the good time to visit Cape Town”. My answer was if you want to catch the ZA festive vibe, visit in the beginning of December to the first week of January. There are lots of people at the tourist attraction places and it is all fun. BUT visiting with kids I will choose two weeks after festive craziness. To my delight they chose the latter.

I was looking forward to play a tourist guide. It was very easy to prep a schedule given that they have two kids. I also have two kids. Their youngest is 5 months. My youngest was also five months old when I visited Malawi. I was the best candidate to host and to show them around, don’t you think?. Ha! They were to spend 3 days in Cape Town.

I met Cora at church when I was an expat in France.  We used to chat after church service.  After three weeks it was like we have known each other for years.  She told me about the beau that she just got engaged to.  She was busy planning her wedding when we met.  I got to be involved in the sweetest and delicious part of planning a wedding, wedding cake tasting.  I could not attend her wedding though because our Europe tour clashed with her wedding day.  With our stay in France coming to an end, we had to leave.  She promised that she will visit us in Cape Town. We kept in touch through Whatapp messages.

Three years later we met again and picked up where we left off.  So much has happened in three years.  She had two boys, 2.5 years old and a 5 months old. It is amazing to watch your friend being a mother. She is fiercely strong and amazingly a strong women and she loves her boys so well.

I wanted to make one short and sweet post about my friend’s visit.  But I am way too excited to write two paragraphs.  Plus I want to document as much as I can about this visit and keep the memories safe.  I separated the post in few posts.  More about the visit in the next post.

Take care,
Nez
