Hi Friends, a lovely good morning!

Lets continue with our Europe road trip recap.  For some Europe trip inspiration be sure to read the previous post: France-Lyon, Switzerland-Geneva, Austria-Vienna Part 1 & Part 2 and Czech Republic-Prague Part 1 & Part 2.

Welcome to Poland, Wroclaw!.  The magical city.  Most of the City disappeared in World War II.    Since then people of Wroclaw picked up the pieces to build the amazing city that we see today.  Still, decades later the results of the war is still seen in the City.

Below was our expression when we first set eyes in the city.  Our hearts sank a bit as we reached the street called Komuny Paryskiej, where our hotel was.  The street looked a bit run down.

Our fears were allayed as we enter our hotel.  Inside it was pure luxury, contrary to what we saw outside.  Being in this part of City was like going back in time. It gave me a clear picture of how the place might have looked like after World War II.

We walked around the streets taking pictures.  People were friendly and we also liked their food.

I knew we will not have much time in the city, so I figured morning run will be the best option to see the other side of the City. Following morning at 6am I was already out taking a jog.  I left Muli and Cullo still sleeping.  It felt good at 6am to see the empty streets and people going about their day to day businesses.

I must have marvelled too much at the beauty of the streets because I got lost.  Lost without a trace of where I was coming from.  I started panicking immediately and started thinking of the worst.  I decided the easy way out was to quickly trace my way back.  I was using Map my Run app so it was easy to trace my way back.

When I got to the hotel I sat and checked what could have happened, only to find out that I was a block behind the hotel when I thought I was lost.  Yikes!.

We prepped ourselves for the day.  We took a tram passing near by to have a view of the city through the windows.

We liked this part of Wroclaw, it’s like going back in time.  We hopped in and out of the tram taking walks around and snapping pictures to our heart’s content.

We took a walk to Tumski (Love) Bridge, once the border of church jurisdiction. Lovers come here to preserve their love.  They lock the padlocks on to the bridge structure and throw away the key in Odra River.  You will find thousands of locks on the bridge.  The act is drop dead romantic.

We also added to the lock collection.  We agreed that should we ever want to part ways (God forbid, ha!).  We will first have to come to this bridge, look for our padlock and the key in Odra River.  Should we find the key (we pray not to find it), we will unlock the padlock and release each other. It will be highly impossible to find the key, and that’s the idea – not to find the key – till death do us part .

I should mention that in SA, Pretoria there is also a new love bridge.  If you are in that area it will be nice to visit the place.  Lovely Megan, author of the sun house blog wrote a beautiful post about The Love Bridge in Pretoria.  Visit her blog to get some details.

Across Tumski Bridge is an area of monumental churches, a marvellous Gothic cathedral, the houses of the canons and the archbishop’s palace.

We ended our day by visiting the Sky Tower – The tallest building in Poland at 212 m high. The architecture is lovely and enchanting.

We had fun playing with photographic views.  Muli was also trying hard to have a shot of her hand on the building.  But she was just too short.

We then hit the road.  Our next stop – Berlin.
