It was Day 2 in Paris, just before we went to Galeries Lafayette.  Versailles is wealthy suburbs situated 20 km from Paris.  It is known for its Palace, The Palace of Versailles and The gardens of Versailles.

Lets quickly go back to the 17th century when there was a small hunting house for Louis XIII on the lands of Château de Versailles as is called in French. His son The King Louis XIV saw potential in his father’s land.  The young man not only did he transformed the place to be his home but he also moved the court of France to Versailles in 1682.  He transformed the humble hunting lodge to a Palace with infinite rooms.

In the 19th century Versailles became Museum for History of France.

On our entrance to the imposing Palace we met vibrant Sophie, our tour guide.  She took us through the King’s Grand Apartment.  Where we had a tour of the bedrooms and other important rooms.  The symbol of achievement and pride is seen in The hall of Mirrors. It is said this was built to impress the visitors as it was used daily by courtiers and visitors for passing through, waiting and for meeting people. And sometimes it was used for special occasions. There are number of mirrors on the walls reflecting people and the gardens to what becomes an amazing  atmosphere.

There is also a Chapel with magnificent interiors.20140315_110842

There is a dining room where members of the community were invited to watch the King and Queen eating supper.  Several dishes will be served and No, you are not allowed to chat with them just watch, ha.  To satisfy human curiosity.

We continued our walk to the Museum and out to the Gardens.  It is said this are Europe’s largest palace garden.  I must say this pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of these gardens.

We hang around the Palace and gave Muli hugs and kisses for being a good little tourist.

Muli and Cullo did ‘Cheers’ with their feet.  Maybe its because we walked a lot.
