A journey by train.

Hello Friends!
There is something stinking romantic about rail travel. I’m not talking about the sort of ride that you find yourself squashed back to back or face to face against a sweaty stranger on your way back from work. I’m taking about the long distance travel, the ride that lets your mind wonder as the train passes through rivers, deserts and hills..
I have a lot of memories travelling by train during my first year at university but the one that stood out is the rail journey I took with Cullo. We have just been dating for 3 months. The journey was 18hours from Mafikeng to Cape Town in South Africa. Anyone who has travelled from Cape Town to Johannesburg will tell you how amazing is the scenery stretching from Beaufort-West to Kimberly then from Kimberly to Mafikeng passing through the Karoo desert. We learned a lot about each other in that 18 hours uninterrupted rail journey.
Well, this week Cullo was out of town. So on Wednesday Me and Muli took a 1 hour journey by train to Beaugency. We took a 7pm train at Gare de Tours to arrive at 8pm in Beaugency. We were both excited for different reasons. I could not wait to see Cullo and Muli on the other hand believed that we were going to take a plane to South Africa. When ever I try to explain to her that it is not true, she burst into tears ha!.
The journey was smooth and as relaxing as you can imagine a long distance rail journey. It was dark outside when we stepped out at Beuagency train station. It became even darker when the train moved. It was a bit scary because I was behind walking slower, on Muli’s pace.
Without warning Muli pulled away from me and flied in to Cullo’s arms. Just like that, a flight to South Africa was all forgotten. Parting is nothing when compared to the joy of meeting again.
We drove few minutes to our hotel. I liked that we used a real door key for our room not access card. Adding more charm to my already charmed self.
Our evening ended with a dinner at the hotel restaurant. From the train journey, a real key for the door to a classic-country style decor restaurant, all was like stepping back in time.
The food was divine. No pictures, you just have to take my word for it ha!.
Beaugency centre-ville (city centre) is beautiful. I never get tired of walking on these streets. More details of Beaugency on the next post.
Have a fabulous friday and a well rested weekend ahead.
Take care,
Nez
