Next week is the beginning of a new season…
This week is the last week of August. It is not just the last week of the month, it is also the last week of winter. Next week on the 1st of September it will officially be Spring season. I enjoyed winter while it lasted but I cant wait for warmer temperatures. Our house is a walking distance to the beach but I have not been there in a month. I am waiting patiently for summer.
There was not much activities for my family this winter. So I had enough time to read and read. I read a lot of engineering material – work related, but now and again I like to grab a good book that is not work related.
I noticed that I was much more focused this winter and procrastination was not an everyday act.
That is all thanks to the two books on my book shelf.
Arnold: The Education of a Bodybuilder [Arnold Schwarzenegger]
Don’t let the title of this book fool you to think that it is all about bodybuilding. The book is about a young man who believes he is larger than life. Arnold knew that he has a good body and he does not apologise about that. He uses words like “Chiselling” and “sculpting” and call his body a natural gift. I was moved by how he ignored negativity from people and concentrated on his vision. Its a very good read.
Think & Grow Rich written by Napoleon Hill
This is a book you want to keep in your book shelf for the rest of your life. Last year when I was doing my post grad studies every lecturer advised us to read this book. I decided to read it because I was tired of hearing about how one should invest the time reading it. I am glad I did. The book is more than lessons of getting rich, it’s about getting what you want. Hill takes an in depth look at how to unleash the power of the mind. He uses examples of past success such as Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison to show how factors such as desire, the subconscious mind, faith and goals can interweave to create favourable condition for success. You wont regret reading this book.
I am kicking off Spring reading Mastery by George Leonard and Fifty shades of Grey (Trilogy) by E.L James. I know I am a bit late after all Fifty shades of Grey fever in the past few years. I have not seen the movie yet but what can I say, I am suffering from “delayed reaction syndrome”.
Happy Friday peeps!
Take care,
Nez
