Update about a week in South Africa

Hello Lovelies!

The last time you heard from me was when I was telling you that I am in South Africa.  I could not write more often because the happenings of the day left me so exhausted with no time to reminisce.  Today I am happy to relive the days in writing.

A week that I spent in SA was very short, I was very busy so was everyone else.  I kicked off the week by joining prayer meeting at Restoration Life Ministry, of which I am a member.  The church was busy with the book of Hebrews.  Hebrews put it clear that Jesus is superior than any living being earth, he offers better hope than astronomers could promise, he is a better sacrifice for our sin than a well fed sheep or goat, He is eternal high priest.  What a good reminder and a pillar to lean on when facing challenges in life.  I was glad to see everyone in church.

I could not see most of my friends.  I was pleased that I managed to see one of my very good friend – Unathi.    It felt so good to be myself for a while and talk to an old friend face to face.  And it was good to have someone doing the same.  We went for supper at Dros restaurant.  We  did not even eat half of the meals because we were busy laughing, she has an amazing sense of humour.  These are the best photos I took in SA, lol!  They were just not good but for the sake of documenting my life, I will appreciate having them in future.

By the time we looked around, the restaurant was empty.  I guess one of  the rules in Dros is not to rush the customer, because the restaurant lights were switched off the same time we left the place. Only one dim light was on for two guys who where busy with admin work. We continued the night back to the hotel and chatted the night away.  She only left at 2am, we were actually talking about her sleeping over at the hotel.  But the logistics of her going to work in the morning were just not good.  It was a great night.

By day I was attending classes and catching up with friends at night.  On Thursday we had dinner organised by the institution for our class group.  We all enjoyed drinks and food with our lecturers.  It was a good time to get to know each other.  There are few people in my class missing in this pic.  We were having a professional pic for the institution and I just took a shot with my camera.

When we were dining, our conversations ranged from discussing the lectures, of course once they were out of sight  (sorry for lectures but every student do that, ha!) – South African governance and service delivery – religious tolerance – back to lectures – we talked about all things baby –  the parties we had when we were still full time students – cultural issues .  It was way too fun.  We left at 11pm and the crew in our table felt that the night was too young and headed to a night club to party.  Me and my friend Rosie went straight to our rooms but it did not help much cause we stayed till the early hours of the morning, having drinks and chatting.

Friday afternoon was spent shopping.  The tooth paste I’m using here in France tastes so unfamiliar, i thought I will get used to it but I had to export from SA. I did a lot of shopping, Cullo also prefers body lotion from SA.  And I bought some items for myself.   I could not show up to Muli after a week without a princess dress, nik-naks and baby jellies.  My luggage was light and had lot of space, I used the opportunity.  I also bought some gifts for my nieces and nephews and I sent them by post.

Saturday 3pm I was boarding a plane back to France, in bright blue sky.  Saying goodbye to friends made me feel so emotional.  Even more emotional because I was missing my family.  My mom and my siblings stay in Mafikeng, 1300km from Cape Town.  Time was too short to see them.  I felt so so close to them yet miles away from them.  I spent hours on my phone chatting to them every day.  I still miss them hard.

I slept most of the day yesterday.  I ran 3km this morning, trying to have energy and get back to my daily routine .  Hope you had a good weekend.

Take care,
Nez
