Our vacation in Brittany

Hi Lovelies,
I hope you are all fine and busy pursuing your dreams and spending time doing what you are passionate about. Cut all things that creates negative vibrations in your life and nourish positive vibes. As for me, I had a blast this past weekend and I was swinging on positive vibrations. And I love life!
Back in South Africa I stay in Cape Town. Very close to the ocean and I like it. I have had the ocean abundantly on my view so much that the idea of visiting France coast line did not seem adventurous enough to me.. When Cullo suggested the idea of touring Brittany coast area, at first I was not keen but I am so so glad that I agreed to his idea. The beaches where completely different from what I’m used to.
I was taken aback by the pink granite stones in the coast line. Just beautiful. The distinctive colour is due to the types of minerals present in the stones.
Last week we spent three nights in Brittany. Brittany is in the western region of France. The place is known for its exotic beaches and rich vegetation. We stayed in a hotel in Vannes. It was raining when we arrived Thursday at 14:00pm. So we spent the rest of the day in doors. Muli is so clingy to Cullo these days, that means when Cullo is around I get loads of free time. I even managed to go and spent a quiet time in the sauna while they were playing. In the sauna I was expecting a tiny little voice saying ‘mama come out’ as usual. And it never happened, she was playing with her dad.
The next day we woke up to grey sky. We prepared ourselves to spending a day in Brehat Island. We drove to Paimpol where we took a 10minutes fairy ride to the Island. We were expecting rain but the clouds cleared a bit. The Island looked ancient and the idea of no car in the Island add more charm.
The Island can be explored by walking or riding a bicycle. We chose walking. Flowers were blooming everywhere.
We followed the hiking trial to the light house – Ploumanach. Muli was on her stroller but somewhere along the way the trial became too rocky and we had to leave the stroller. Most people also left their bicycles at that point. And this girl did very well.
The view of the light house.
I told you she is clingy to her dad.
Too cute not to post.
We had our lunch on our way back from the light house and headed back to the main land.
Everyone looked too tired for words in the boat. and this bird gave us a performance for a good 10minutes.
Next day we woke at about 10am. The rain stopped just after we woke up and we prepared ourselves to go to Baden and Carnac. These places are a short drive from our hotel. We drove around Baden village and stopped at Plage de Berchis – Lamor Baden.
Here the stones were black unlike the pink stones in Brehat Island. Muli preferred to stand right there, no where next to the water.
In Carnac we took a bus tour around the village and the megaliths. Megaliths are standing stones of Carnac that attracts lots of tourists. The granite stones were erected in the 4000BC and arranged in lines for unknown reasons, they are thought to have cultural and religious meaning.
After the Megaliths tour we proceeded to the walled sandy beaches of Carnac.
Our last destination in Brittany was The walled City of St Malo. The large part of the city was destroyed in world war II and reconstructed after the war. We arrived midday and had a warm crepes with strawberry source. We quickly realised that we cannot walk around because of rain, we went for a Le Petit train tour which is a small train tour.
Inside these walls are restaurants, shops and hotels. The place was life with curious tourists taking walks and having lunch.
Outside the walled city.
Just close by is the large sandy beach and it is walled too.
There is a fortress which is accessible in low tide. We did not want to go there pushing the stroller so we missed out. The city was quit. We walked on the beach and the wall around the beach before we headed to our last stop.
Our last stop was the historic tower monuments.
The towers on the left hand side seen on the picture is The Solidor Tower that houses the Musee du Long. The Museum displays different models of ships and objects made by mariners during their long journeys.
Beautiful ancient architectural buildings.
We ended the day the same way we started it, with warm crepes. We just love Brittany crepes, cant help it. Brittany is a beautiful place, we effortlessly enjoyed the place.
Take care,
Nez
