You know those awkward days when you leave home without kids,  you feel so happy and excited to venture out without kids and yet time and again you cant help but feel like you forgot something.  Well that was me this day. If you know me, you know that I am happiest when I am spending most of my time with my kids.  As a working mom, it is not easy to strike a balance between work and family not to mention making time for friends.   At the end of the week I am only left with few hours to spend with kids. Naturally, over […]

Safari in Africa-Luangwa 2

(December Update) Excuse me in advance for being too wordy. I want to safely bottle the phenomenal moments we experienced so that I can relieve them many years to come when I read this post. Continuing from the Safari in Africa-Luangwa 1 here, we woke up with raw energy from sleeping so close to nature (I mean we slept with a lizard hunting in our room, ha!). We had breakfast a bit late (with kids it was expected). Our tour guide or game ranger joined us for meals. I liked the idea. That means for the 4 nights of our […]

Safari in Africa- Luangwa 1

(December update) I have done a couple of Safaris here in Africa and in all experiences I was amazed.  The last Safari we did was in 2010.  We went to Kruger National Park and we were as satisfied as we were with our recent Safari.  There is something intriguing in seeing the animals roaming freely in the jungle. My whole body and mind get a feeling of freedom and connection that I don’t understand.  I really need a Safari trip every year ha!. When we were in Malawi in December we took some time to visit at South of Luangwa […]

December was lived-in Salima

Yes,  it is now Feb and I am still thinking of December.  For me the joys of being a blogger is being able to re-live the past by writing. December month started with Zee turning 5 months.  Then big sister Muli finished  school term and was gearing for summer holidays.  As for me, I was dying to take a break from work and spend time with my cubs, family and friends. We wanted to spend all our summer holidays with Cullo’s family in Malawi.  We have not seen them in a while.  Grand parents have not met Zee, so it […]

Welcoming Spring.

Written by , Posted in Travel

When thinking about spring all I can Imagine is lighter clothes (dresses, sandals, sunglasses and hats) not forgetting a small cardigan (this is cape town).  Unfortunately it is the opposite.  The temperatures are still low and some days it is raining.  But we taking advantage of warmer days to spend time outdoors. This time of the year, there are beautiful flowers all over in Cape Town, even along the high ways.  I love flowers.  Whenever we are outside as family, I will be showing Muli flowers.  Now she is always on the look-out for nice flowers when we are out-and-about.  She […]

A day before we hiked Lions head, my nephews and nieces begged me to go hike table mountain with them.  Yet the next day, it was me who begged them to reach Lions Head summit.  Mmmmmm…. Kids!!! I am right behind you, take one step at a time baby girl. No, we not turning back here.  We going up, me and you.  We will make it. What?.  Did he say we are halfway?.  No we are not, we are almost there.  Just keep moving. We hiked Lions Head on Saturday with my two nephews (19 & 8) and my nieces […]

Autumn season in Franschhoek.

Written by , Posted in Travel

Autumn is by far my favourite season.  Its a pity that it normally goes unnoticed in Southern part of Africa.  The reason being that the transitional season of Autumn is very short.   Just like it happened this year, one morning it was summer and the next we woke up to crispy cold morning breeze.  Its unbelievable.   Our closet are still packed with summer clothes.  I am still hoping that one morning it will be so hot that I can get to wear my summer outfits.  And guess what,  it is all a wish.  Autumn  is here. By the time the […]

Reminded of my travel romances: Bo-Kaap!

Written by , Posted in Travel

It was April and I just blinked and it is May.  How is that possible?.  Yikes!  If I did not document some of my adventures in April, I will swear I did not live the month.  Our walk in Bo-Kaap is one of the exhibit that it might seems like I blinked the month away, but I had 24hrs each day of the month. Colourful picturesque houses, cobbled stoned streets, narrow streets.  Tiny houses.  You might think I’m describing one of Paris’s exotic streets.  No, I’m talking about Bo-Kaap. It is a hidden jam right in Cape Town City Centre, […]

Birthday weekend.

Written by , Posted in Travel

The past weekend we celebrated Cullo’s birthday.  He does not want to fuss about his big day but I fuss because that day a little boy was born.  The little boy that God created just for me.  I feel the need to do something in remembrance of that day.  Even if its not buying him expensive gifts but a simple day spent remembering his birthday is good enough.   Three years back we attended Israel Mosehla’s concert and  Cullo’s liked his performance.  When I heard that he will be performing at Gospel Rhama Church I booked for us.  On Saturday […]

Spain-Madrid Vacation Recap.

Written by , Posted in Travel

20141217_144042_thumb.jpg

(Lets pretend like our vacation in Spain did not happen a month ago.  Are you in? .  Right, moving right along). It was difficult to choose between touring Barcelona or Madrid.  We like Barcelona with its southern sunny beaches but Madrid the Spanish capital won our hearts.  From Porto we took a flight to Madrid.  You can read all about our Porto vacation here . We had a very pleasant time in Madrid from the 15th to 18th of last month.  Our vacation was more like having a fun time out in our home town, that’s  because we spent time […]
