Biking to Villandry Castle.

Hello Lovelies!
Yesterday I wanted to spend a day working on my assignment, like an academic assignment. It turned out that Cullo had a day off. He wanted to spend a day with Muli at home. A very good excuse for me to think about a quick adventure. They both deserve a day together, just the two of them.
With weather that good, well assignments could wait. I decided from nowhere to cycle 20km to Villandry Chateaux. In no time Cullo and Muli came out to wave me good bye and I was off.
Villandry Chateaux / Castle is one of many lovely castles in Loire valley. It is about 20km from our place. That means I had to cycle a total distance of 40km. I was up for it and nature was this amazing on my way.
The scenery worth it.
10 km done at this point and 9km to go.
A pace slow enough to see the world around me.
Without notice, 16km down, as I took a left turn I saw this. Savonnières Village on the banks of Loire Valley.
I cycled slowly to a group of tourists having breakfast. I also needed a break. I stopped to stretch my legs and I bought a fresh baguette in boulangerie nearby for picnic lunch at Villandry gardens. Then I hit the road.
I felt so relieved when after 18km ride I saw a road sign 1.5km Villandry. Huuuuuu ha! I was almost there. Much more excitement when I took a left turn. How neat is this passage as a welcoming to Villandry. And those sun sunbeams, well I could have cycled another 18km if the reward was to be this view.
I arrived safely at the castle. This chateaux is very popular to cyclist. Ladybird joined some few bicycles while I went inside.
I began my tour in the castle and then went out to the garden.
After greeting the friendly lady at the entrance, I was greeted by this elegant pieces of furniture. From there on I ooohed an aaahed to the magnificent pieces of furniture up until I could ooh no more..
Imagine this pretty bed with this amazing view in the pic below at your disposal daily. I will surely have good dreams every night ha!. We talking about the 15th century luxury here.
This view from the bedroom.
There are spiral staircases that takes you to the terraces where you can have the full view of the garden. On the other side is a view of the village and the valley.
From there I went down the other rooms to have a look at the ancient paintings in the galleries before going to plant gallery, viewing different types of plants that are in the gardens. I liked that the chateau is not too big. One hour flat I was done and proceeded to the gardens.
The beauty of these gardens is unreal. They are picture perfect even at closer look.
I had a peace of mind walking in these gardens. I even dreamt of working towards having a home like this in future. Not bad to dream hey?.
I then sat in this quiet place and had picnic. Spending time in Loire doesn’t get any better unless you sit for bread, cheese and wine and have a picnic. Well, I did not have wine. but I was very happy with my water, cheese and a piece of baguette, and an apple.
After eating I continued to tour the gardens to my heart satisfaction. I then head back home. I drove faster on my way back. It is not possible to pass by this maize field and not bust in to a song. Yep, that’s the peace you feel deep within your soul when cycling here.
A neat 39km was done.
Back home I was greeted by this happy child. Content to have spend a day with her daddy dearest. And an early supper was in the house.
How was your weekend? Any adventures for the weekend?. Feel free to share.
Take care,
Nez
