Hello there!
How was your weekend?. We had a wet weekend this side. We spend most of the days indoors. Sunday afternoon we were tired of being indoors and we braved the rain and visited one of the wine caves.
The Cave des Producteurs de Vouvray is a mere 15minutes drive from our place. Like The Caves champignonnières des Roches which we visited few weeks back, limestone was dug in the caves to build chateaux. For 2.40 Euro per person we had about 15minutes tour in the cellar, watched a video (we forgot to watch the video) and tasted 7 wines. That is a good deal.
In the reception area there is a small museum displaying tools and machines used in the production of wine during them days. There was a couple who joined us for a tour to the cave.
Then off to the cellar, we entered the passageway and were greeted by tons of wine hand riddling racks. The wines are maturing in a constant temperature of 13 degrees Celsius. As the wine ages, they are given a 1/4 turn periodically to promote the binding of sediment. There are rags and rags of wines.
The tour is a very quick 15 minutes and worth the visit. After the cave tour we were suppose to watch the video but there was still one group busy watching so we continued to the tasting room. We must have been tipsy after tasting because we went straight to the car and forgot watching the video.
While our taste buds were tickled by the taste of Vouvray finest produce,
Muli kept herself entertained. She was also given a sparkling juice to drink.
This girl is going to out run us in few coming years ha!
We ended the day by taking a walk in one of wine farms in the area. Muli was at home, picking flowers.
It was a good day under the grey skies.
Take care,
Nez
