The best things in life aren’t planned…They simply just happen.

That’s how the past weekend turned out.  We planned to go hang around with Penguins at Boulders Beach.  The plan was for us to be there at 10am and be back just past lunch time, in time for Zee’s nap time.  I wanted to go watch The Black Panther at the cinema.

As it turned out, by 10am we were parked at our friends house drive through.  There was no one in the house.  Their reason was understandable though.  They woke up early to run some errand      s, on their way back they got stuck in traffic.  Road works.  They came back before 11pm and we hit the road immediately.  We drove pass by garage to fill up petrol and we noticed that my tire pressure was on 0.0Pa.  When did this happen?.  My tyre had a slow punch, which they fixed.  And we continued to our destination.

We made it to Boulders Beach, apart from all the drama.  Boulders beach is African Penguin’s sanctuary.  I thought of skipping the visit to the Boulder’s Beach thinking that the kids have seen penguins at the two oceans aquarium many times.  I was wrong.  Seeing the group of cute-cuddly penguins is quite an experience.  Especially in natural environment.  The beach is kids friendly. Kids went to town swimming, climbing the rocks and watching penguins swim.  We did not pack them swimming outfits.  We simply forgot.  Mommy diaries. The kids did not mind a bit.

There are two parts of the beach.  The one where you can swim in the pool with the penguins.  There is a part here where there was a fence.  But it did not matter because they could walk from the fence and swim in the pool.

There is another part were you can see multitude of penguins from the viewing platform.  It is very special because you are so near to the penguins.  It was astounding.

Zee enjoyed running with big kids.  Normally she does not want her feet to touch wet sand and she freaks out when the water splashes her feet.  This time around she wanted to follow Muli to the water but the water was so cold.  She killed us because she kept on saying oooh so cod (Oh, so cold).  We love her.  She is the cutest and full of character.

Zee wanted to share the experience with Muli’s teddy bear, Rossie.  She will go all the way to look for Rosie, fetch the teddy to go swim with her only to give her 13seconds of her attention and forget about her.

Muli and her friend were building sand castle.  They said they were building for the Princesses.  Every time they finish building their castles, while they are still admiring the work of their hands, Zee wil come and stamp on their castles without a smile on her face.  They will get irritated, and we kept telling them to remember that they said they were building for Princess.  Zee is the princess.  She feels she can do whatever she wants with her castle.  They were too kind not to get angry with her.

We saw penguins sitting on eggs, digging holes and making nests.  We also saw Penguins mating and the kids were so excited saying they are massaging each other.  Ha!.  I was not ready to give that lesson, thank you.

We ended the day with ice-cream in a cone please.
