Today marks the last day of school for my girl.  Its the end of the term and the start of school summer holidays.  School will resume in September. I am so proud her.  Rightfully so because it has not been an easy transition for her.  During the early days in France, I could see frustrations in her actions when she comes home from school.  But every morning she will put a big smile on her face and ready to start another day with her new teachers and new friends.  She was so brave.

I will forever be grateful to the children at her school that went out of their way to make her feel like she belongs.  These kids were extra kind to this girl.  Every single day I will find them surrounding her.  Like really surrounding her, telling her how to play with some toys.  And of course talking in French. Muli never threw toys away in frustrations because she did not understand them.  She was kind and very patient.  That experience has definitely shaped Muli’s character.

In the mornings when I drop Muli, there was this little girl called Kimora.  When she sees Muli, she will run to her, give her a sweetest hug and hold her by hand into the class.  She has made so many friends at school since then but Kimora is her BFF.

Her teachers where extra kind too.  I liked that the Principal of the school is easily accessible.  She stands by the gate in the mornings when we drop kids and in the evenings when we pick them up.  I find this to be very neat.  She stands there to greet parents and you can have a talk with her or raise your concerns.  What a brilliant gesture, you can tell she has passion and is committed to her job.  She also played a huge role in helping Muli to settle in.

I remember our Pastor’s prayer for Muli when we were leaving SA.  ‘…Allow your angels to go with her and comfort her…’. It is only through prayer that every person in Muli’s path felt the need to comfort her and make her feel like part of French Community.

Take care,
Nez
